Demolition Derby: When a Mind Loses Its License to Drive

An evening-length dance-theatre work about navigating dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.

The success of last November’s premiere of Demolition Derby caught the attention of Myriad Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Utah-based biopharmaceutical company whose mission includes novel drug discovery and creating awareness about dementia through the arts. Following the Company’s acclaimed William Utermohlen art exhibit and lecture in October 2006  in New York City, Myriad was looking for another art form to incorporate into its Art & Alzheimer’s initiative. As a result, Demolition  Derby will be performed November 2, 2007, in the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College in New York City.  The performance, and  post-show panel discussion with experts in the field of dementia, will be hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter, and supported by Myriad Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Prior to the New York City premiere, Demolition Derby will be performed in Salt Lake City in early September 2007 to share this seminal collaboration of SternWorks with Utah audiences.
